The Cancer Genetics Program at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital offers cancer risk assessment and genetic counseling to help determine if someone’s personal or family cancer history is due to an inherited susceptibility.

The Center for Counseling and Cancer Support at Magee consists of a group of mental health experts that help cancer patients and their loved ones deal with the challenges of living with cancer. The center provides counseling and psychiatric consultations, assessments, and treatments. You can ask your care team for a referral or call for information and to request an appointment.

The UPMC Supportive and Palliative Care Program providers work closely with the cancer care team to treat physical symptoms such as pain, and to provide individualized care, considering the patient’s emotional, social, and spiritual needs.

Nutrition Services for Cancer Patients

UPMC offers many options to learn more about nutritional health during cancer treatment. The dietician can help with managing eating problems and symptoms related to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, such as weight loss and appetite issues or can review and analyze current intake to better formulate eating strategies to meet vitamin and mineral needs through diet.
